LADY OF FATIMA On May 13, 1917, three Portuguese children told of having seen a vision of Our Lady in a cove while tending sheep. The children said the Lady told them to come to the cove on the 13th of each month until the following October when she would tell them who she was. On October 13, she said she was the Lady of the Rosary and asked the children to recite the rosary every day. She asked that a chapel be built in her honor. The Catholic church erected a shrine with a Basilica at Fatima, Portugal. In 1932, the Church authorized devotion to Our Lady of Fatima under the title of "Our Lady of the Rosary." People from all over the world travel to Fatima to worship at the Shrine erected in Our Lady's honor. |
